Seawell Elementary School

November 9,2004

Members Present: Amy Kwiek, Katherine Worley, Susan Pegg, Ursula Council, Mark Peters, Teri Stern, Linda Williford, Jennifer Jansen

Others in attendance: Marny Ruben

Minutes were approved.

Principal’s Report
• Seawell Advisory Council will meet on 11/10 to review the new School Improvement Plan template.

• Ms. Pegg shared the SGC by-laws that can be revised.

• The 40th day enrollment budget was shared and discussed.

• Two new School Board draft policies were shared- 4325 Substance Abuse and 4320 Tobacco Products- discussions will take place on these at a December
School Board meeting.

• Big Fall Play Day is scheduled for Nov. 13th.

• Great Harvest brought in $1,500.

• The book Fair is in process.

Old Business
• Ms. Pegg will check on the outside lights that Seawell is responsible for.

• The SGC members need to sign the letter about drainage issues. Ms. Jansen suggested that we send pictures along with the letter. Jennifer and Terry
will take pictures during the next rain.

• Mark shared about the Educational Summit meeting. Ursula was impressed with the district’s AVID program.

• Larry will draft a letter to thank the School Board for reinstating the second grade assistant position that was lost the previous year.

New Business
• Stealth School Capital Spending Target proposal was discussed. Should we write a letter? The SGC decided to wait.

• The Vineyard Square bus stop issue has been resolved.

• School Improvement Plan- The staff has worked on the vision and mission statement. Ms. Pegg is working on the school data section.

• Mark will email the School Board to let them know that Seawell’s SGC likes calendar option C.

• Ms. Pegg shared the district’s new plan for conserving energy and saving money.

• The district also plans to move towards classified staff completing timesheets on line. Teacher assistants may have to clock in and out on the
computer.
